Ashland Railroad Run

Every spring, the Center hosts the long-running Ashland Railroad Run. This certified 10K race is a favorite among runners from across the Commonwealth and beyond!

Other events include a 5k Walk/Run, Kid’s Fun Run, and the COTU Challenge race (run both the 5k and 10k).

“Race the Rails & Trails” in the Center of the Universe, where you will be cheered on by residents in downtown Ashland.

Leashed pets and stroller joggers are allowed, but please be aware that part of the race is on gravel and wooded paths.

Ashland July Fourth Parade & Celebration

A beloved tradition, join us each July Fourth for a day of fun celebrating our country’s independence! Featuring an endearing small-town walking parade and a patriotic concert by the Hanover Concert Band on our lawn. There are old-fashioned lawn games, a Patriotic Pet Costume Contest, hot dogs and hamburgers, and of course our famous Apple Pie Baking Contest and Pie Auction, all in the Center of the best little town in the Universe!

The parade steps off from the parking lot of Henry Clay Elementary School on the morning of the 4th of July, proceeds up Hanover Avenue, and winds down Duncan and Myrtle Street and Center Street to reach the Hanover Arts & Activities Center, where it concludes, and lawn activities commence.

Each year, we look forward to hosting new organizations in the parade brigade and seeing your creative new ideas. Note: No political brigades are permitted.

Enjoy tastings from local breweries and wineries, live music, delicious fare from Richmond-area food trucks, and time well spent with friends and neighbors.

All proceeds benefit The Hanover Arts & Activities Center, a non-profit organization.

Ashland Musical Variety Show

The Ashland Musical Variety Show is a FUN-RAISER for the Hanover Arts & Activities Center.  The show brings our community together and supports the Center’s programs.

The show’s founding director, Sue Watson, refers to the Ashland Musical Variety Show as “community building through the arts.”

About the Show:  The Ashland Musical Variety Show has been a Hanover tradition since 1982, 1983, and every odd year since.
