Ashland Railroad Run

We are back with new race organizers and partnering with Arsenal Events! Come race the rail at one of Central Virginia’s longest-established road races!

This certified 10k race is a favorite spring ritual among runners from across the Commonwealth and beyond!  Other events include a 5k Walk/Run, Kid’s Fun Run, and the COTU Challenge race both the 5k and 10k! Virtual Run option too!

The 2024 race featured a partial trail route for our 10K through Stony Run Trail. Please visit our registration for maps and details. Leashed pets and stroller joggers are allowed but please be aware a small portion will be on gravel and wooded paths.

Ashland Musical Variety Show

The Ashland Musical Variety Show is a FUN-DRAISER for the Hanover Arts & Activities Center.  Our Show brings our community together and supports the Center’s programs.

The Center is dedicated to the enrichment of our community through cultural, educational, and community activities. We thank you in advance for the good spirit in which you share your time, energy, ideas, and talent with our community — all for good.

About the Show:  The Ashland Musical Variety Show has been a Hanover tradition since 1982, 1983, and every odd year since.  The show is an important community-building event, where you can work again with old friends and always make new friends.  It is also the Center’s most important fundraiser.

Ashland July Fourth Parade & Celebration

A beloved tradition, join us each July Fourth for a day of fun celebrating our country’s independence! Featuring an endearing small-town walking parade and a patriotic concert by the Hanover Concert Band on our lawn. There are old old-fashioned lawn games, a Patriotic Pet Costume Contest, cold snow cones, hot dogs and hamburgers, and of course our famous Apple Pie Baking Contest and Pie Auction all in the Center of the best little town in the Universe!

The parade steps off from the parking lot of Henry Clay Elementary School at 11am, proceeds up Hanover Avenue, and winds down Duncan and Myrtle Street and Center Street to reach the Hanover Arts & Activities Center, where it concludes and lawn activities commence.

Submit a form HERE if you would like to create a new 2025 brigade in the parade. We look forward to hosting new organizations seeing your creative new ideas. Note: No political brigades are permitted.

Please check back often and follow our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) for the latest updates!
