Want to Join the Center’s Board?

We're so glad you're interested in joining the Board of Directors for the Hanover Arts and Activities Center. The Center (as we fondly call it) is located in downtown Ashland and hosts a number of community programs, including the July 4th Parade and Celebration, Off the Rails Craft Beer Festival, Ashland Railroad Run, an annual Halloween celebration, a variety of youth arts programs (theater, music, visual arts, etc.), etc. We're always looking for new ideas, too, so recruitment is a great opportunity to invite new ideas and perspectives to the table.

Our Board of Directors, currently including 14 active members, makes up our standing committees (Programming, Advancement, Community Engagement, Finance, Facilities) and many of our special committees that are all program-based (i.e., Off the Rails Craft Beer Festival has a special committee of board and community members).

The full board meets once a month (schedule set at the beginning of the year), typically on the third Thursday of the month for approximately an hour. Standing Committees and Special Committees will meet based on the particular needs for the events or projects. Board members are expected to serve on a minimum of (1) standing committee and (1) active special committee. The board also holds 2 - 3 workdays annually for outdoor cleanup and building improvements.

Board terms are 3 years for general board members and 2-year terms for executive board members (Presidents, VPs, Treasurer, Secretary).  Members can serve 2 consecutive terms.

To confirm your interest in being on the Board, we need you to fill out this "application." It's quick and doesn't affect whether you are voted in, but it just helps us prepare for our first meeting in January. Once received, someone from the current Board will be in touch.
